Budgetine Privacy Policy

Budgetine is built so that we cannot see your financial data. This policy is short because there is very little to explain.

What we collect

Budgetine has no ads or advertising trackers. Your financial information (transactions, budgets, accounts, goals, and receipt results) is stored on your device and is never sent to us. If you explicitly opt in, Budgetine sends a small set of coarse product-usage events to help us improve the app. The optional referral feature also contacts our service when you open or use it. Neither service accepts financial information.

Optional product analytics

Product analytics is off by default and requires your consent. If enabled, Budgetine may send which app features were used, which screen was open and for how many seconds, the app version, the major iOS version, a coarse language group, an event time, and a random session identifier. It does not send transactions, amounts, merchants, balances, categories, account names, receipt contents, subscription brands, contacts, advertising identifiers, or Apple ID information. Raw analytics events are kept for up to 90 days and remain separate from referral records. Anonymous daily summaries, such as event counts and typical time spent on a screen, are kept longer to understand trends. These summaries contain no session identifiers or identifiers linked to an installation. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings. This stops future uploads and deletes unsent events from the device.

Your data stays on your device

Your financial data is saved locally on your iPhone. You can protect the app with Face ID, export your data at any time from Settings, and delete it at any time. JSON and CSV exports are readable files that you control, so you should store and share them carefully. The local encryption key may be managed by Apple's iCloud Keychain when that service is enabled on your device.

Receipt scanning

Receipt photos are processed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in text recognition. Images never leave your device unless you turn on iCloud sync, in which case they are stored encrypted in your own private iCloud, where we cannot read them.

Purchases

Budgetine Pro purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Referrals (optional)

Budgetine has an optional referral feature. If you choose to share your referral code, or enter a friend's code, the app contacts our referral service to check the code and to prevent abuse. To do this it sends a randomly generated referral code and a random install identifier that is created only for referrals. That identifier is not your name, email, Apple ID, device ID, or advertising ID. The service also processes a salted hash of the connecting IP address as an abuse signal, kept with the install record. Referral records are used to issue codes, validate claims, detect duplicate or self-referrals, and show referral status. They are not combined with analytics records. No financial information is ever sent. The service runs on Cloudflare on our behalf.

Optional iCloud sync

iCloud sync is optional and off by default. If you turn it on in Settings, Budgetine stores your records in your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit service. That database belongs to your Apple ID; we have no access to it. An encrypted local copy stays on your device so the app keeps working offline, and local budgeting never requires an account. Turn sync off at any time and your data simply stays on your device.

Children

Budgetine is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date.
